Nero's Waltz
03:04
|
|||
It all shut down today
People still have bills to pay
To improve their lot in life
Will make em end up like Lot's wife
Do you preach what you live?
Do you take or do you give?
The tree that bears no fruit
Will be cut down to the root
Only time will time will time will time will tell
But I wish you well
And Rome didn't burn in a day
But I've got days to kill
And a fiddle to play
And this dumpster fire
Will be my funeral pyre
'Cause this burning desire
Just won't go away
What I saw made me cry
When I looked through the needle's eye
I have not 20/20 vision
But I don't need your permission
To dance in the ash
My sorrows to mask
We'll bask in the flames together
A particular kind of nether
Only time will time will time will time will tell
But I wish you well
And Rome didn't burn in a day
But I've got days to kill
And a fiddle to play
And this dumpster fire
Will be my funeral pyre
'Cause this burning desire
Just won't go away

Victoire, SK

It casts a long, tall shadow out over the trees below
The cross upon the hilltop where my family used to go
The dew clinging onto the long tall grass will soak right through your jeans
On the hill outside of my hometown where I learned what it means
In the little town of Victoire is where we lay our scene
Early in my childhood days, when the snow was gone in the spring
We took the truck up on the hill, and I'll tell you what was found
Crocus blooms of purple coming out of the ground
It casts a long, tall shadow out over the trees below
The cross upon the hilltop where my family used to go
The dew clinging onto the long tall grass will soak right through your jeans
On the hill outside of my hometown where I learned what it means
(Victoire's own Erik Paquette with that lovely fiddle solo)
Now I have been all around this world, been to America and Paris too
Many a place with plenty of people and lots of things to do
But no matter how far I travel, something always seems to take
Me back to where the roads are made of gravel and the fish swim in the lake
It casts a long, tall shadow out over the trees below
The cross upon the hilltop where my family used to go
The dew clinging onto the long tall grass will soak right through your jeans
On the hill outside of my hometown where I learned what it means
Where the sage and Saskatoon berries and wild strawberries grow
On the hill outside of my hometown that I once used to know

Nobody's love is like mine
No one so faithful and kind
Love that is true as the ocean
But nobody's love is like mine
Well they tell me that you've found another
And now you're going far away
Why did you leave me little darling
I've loved you both night and day
Nobody's love is like mine
No one so faithful and kind
Love that is true as the ocean
But nobody's love is like mine
Well I guess now I'll just go on dreaming
And wondering why it couldn't be
Some day little darling you'll be sorry
For the way you treated me
Nobody's love is like mine
No one so faithful and kind
Love that is true as the ocean is blue
But nobody's love is like mine
Nobody's love is like mine
No one so faithful and kind
Love that is true as the ocean is blue
But nobody's love is like mine

Crying all alone
I've been getting back into crying lately
I've been rediscovering crying all alone
Like at the end of a sad old movie
Or a conversation on the phone
Or wishing I was with the one I love truly
Or missing my home
I've been getting back into crying lately
Crying all alone
Crying all alone
Tears spill sadly into the storm drain
Like an engine full of hot motor oil
They get swallowed up by the fish
And leach into the soil
Back in the heydays it was Bakugans and Beyblades
But now I prefer getting sauced
Well the pleasure is sweet
But it's light on it's feet
And once more I find myself lost
I've been getting back into crying lately
I've been rediscovering crying all alone
Like at the end of a sad old movie
Or a conversation on the phone
Or wishing I was with the one I love truly
Or missing my home
I've been getting back into crying lately
Crying all alone
Crying all alone
I'm alone now
And the air is hot and still
And still I wonder what you're doing tonight
I wanna call you and I probably will
But you won't answer, cause you don't need to
And you're out and having fun
That's why I saved the tears
From the last five years
To let them out all at once
I've been getting back into crying lately
I've been rediscovering crying all alone
Like at the end of a sad old movie
Or a conversation on the phone
Or wishing I was with the one I love truly
Or missing my home
I've been getting back into crying lately
Crying all alone
Crying all alone

Fair and Tender Ladies
03:42
|
|||
Come all ye fair and tender ladies
Take good care how you court young men
They’re like a star on a summer morning
They first appear and then they’re gone
They’ll tell to you some loving story
And make you think they love you well
And then they’ll go and court another
And leave you there in grief to dwell
I wish I was on some tall mountain
Where the ivy rocks are black as ink
I’d write a letter to my false true lover
Whose cheeks are like the morning pink
Oh love is fair and love is handsome
And love is pretty when love is new
But love grows cold as love gets older
And fades away like morning dew

Sittin' in a lawn chair drinkin' some beer
Wishin' you were far away from here
Hey hey, I got the information age frustration
Sittin' on the front porch drinkin' some wine
Happy hour's at 3 when it's quarantine
Hey hey, I got the information age frustration
Ugh
The old suburbs still look the same
I walk around without an aim
Hey hey, I got the information age frustration
I pass my neighbour on the street
And we step aside til we're 6 feet
Hey hey, I got the information age frustration
So frustrated going out of my mind
So much to look at I'm going blind
To the point that I can see that
Everybody loves Michelle Obama but nobody loves me
Heee he he hee he he he hee he he hee
Dog's in the kitchen licking the floor
And I'm in the kitchen licking the floor
Hey hey, I got the information age frustration
So put your head in a plastic bag
You don't need air when you got swag
Hey hey, I got the information age frustration
So frustrated going out of my mind
So much to look at I'm going blind
To the point that I can see that
Everybody loves Townes Van Zandt but nobody loves me
Heee he he hee he he he hee he he hee
Yeah Jake
Now here's a fundamental truth
It's an iPhone 5 and a tooth for a tooth
Hey hey, I got the information age frustration
So take no ish and do no harm
And I'm a-going back to Maggie's Farm
Hey hey, I got the information age frustration
So frustrated going out of my mind
So much to look at I'm going blind
To the point that I can see that
Everybody loves Ru Paul's Drag Race but nobody loves me
Heee he he hee he he he hee he he hee

À La Claire Fontaine
04:02
|
|||

Ah! Si mon moine voulait danser!
Ah! Si mon moine voulait danser!
Un chapelet je lui donnerais
Un chapelet je lui donnerais
Danse, mon moine, danse!
Ah! Si mon moine voulait danser!
Ah! Si mon moine voulait danser!
Un froc de bur' je lui donnerais
Un froc de bur' je lui donnerais
Danse, mon moine, danse!
Ah! Si mon moine voulait danser!
Ah! Si mon moine voulait danser!
Une ceinture je lui donnerais
Une ceinture je lui donnerais
Danse, mon moine, danse!
Danse, mon moine, danse!

Blue Yodel No. 68
02:42
|

It feels like everybody's always waiting for me 'cause I'm always last
No matter how fast I go everybody speeds right on past me
I seriously try to leave on time
But it doesn't work, I don't know why
I think I have some kind of disease
That makes me tardy to every party
They're like "hurry up man, jeez"
The latest I've been was like three hours
I honestly don't know how it happened but
I don't care anymore
Now I have been a forgetful boy as long as I can remember
Forget my shit so often my mom calls me the Absent-Minded Professor
I lost my license like a thousand times
And I'm not saying it was taken away
Like I haven't found them to this day
I also lost the keys to my van
It's a 2006 Dodge Caravan
It's white - I just thought I'd tell you that
And if you want a ride in it, I'm you're man
Cuz I don't care anymore
I took a little leisurely walk through East Hastings in Vancouver
To a man in a window a guy on the street was screaming bloody murder
He said "You better let me in,
"You're keeping me away from my family and kin
"And ruining my relationships
"Now you're gonna die"
I walked away from that situation
On my way to the subway station
And continued westward on East Hastings
And saw some rather greasy things
Like people selling stuff on the street
But the stuff they were selling was upsetting
Like packages of unrefrigerated meat
I was hungry but I didn't ask for the price
I am so desensitized
But I don't care anymore
I'm desensitized!
I don't care anymore
I really don't care
I don't care anymore

Bus Stop Blues
03:05
|

I see you standing there
Wind's blowing your blonde hair
You're smiling down at your white shoes
I think I'm gonna try and talk to you
There's such a warmth in your brown eyes
They strip away all of my lies
And as the cold wind catches my breath
I hear a voice whisper "What's next?"
You rode your bike around
Looking through love's lost and found
You meet people and you talk
You ride your bike and I will walk
I'm sitting all alone
I wish you'd call me on the phone
Elliot Dillabough says to me
Forget breaking up and just break free
I saw you standing there
The wind blowing your blonde hair
You gave to me some bus stop blues
I'm reading up on all your clues
Cause when the blackbird sang in the fall
He sure didn't miss me one bit at all
Oh Aura Lee you're on my mind
And my mind says that's just fine

Borj and Penelope
05:31
|
|||
Let me tell you a story
On the banks of the South Saskatchewan River
There lived two snowmen
Or, snowpeople I should say
A snowboy and a snowgirl
Their names were Borj and Penelope
Their bodies were crafted of snow of the highest quality from the last March snowfall
Their hair of tall grass, their arms of willow sticks
Their features of carefully selected rocks and dried berries
Borj cared for Penelope
And Penelope cared for Borj
They would talk and laugh for hours
They liked to make puzzles together
One time Penelope saw an owl fly by
She said "hey Borj look! An owl!"
Well, Borj missed it, but he was just happy that she saw
Yes, Borj and Penelope cared for each other very much
They would dance and play and sing
Down by the river
Side by side
And as time went on, March turned to April
And the sun stayed in the sky longer and longer every day
And the temperature of the air got higher and higher every day
Until got so high that Borj and Penelope
Just sort of melted away
And they flowed down the bank
Into the South Saskatchewan River
Down over the weir and under all the bridges
All the way down into Lake Winnipeg,
Into the Hudson Bay
And finally into the ocean
Now you're probably wondering
Why did I have to tell this story
When in the end they just melt away?
And you're probably thinking
How terribly sad!
And yes, it is sad
I wish Borj and Penelope could be around forever
But the spring thaw, it always comes
That's just the way it is and I don't know why
But it's also a happy story
Because it happened, and it was happy when it happened
And it will always be happy in my memory
And when I hear this tune, I remember the two little snowpeople
Borj and Penelope
Down by the river
Side by side
